Time is of the essence.
And after next weekend, we’ll have a lot more of it on our hands as the 2014 spring boat show season comes to a close. Of course, by then BoatNameGear will be in full Father’s Day production mode, so the extra time will be welcome.
It seems like the boat show season comes in two waves here in the States, and particularly in the Northeast… The first wave includes the fall shows, with major boating events in Newport, Annapolis, and Fort Lauderdale on the east coast in September and October. These shows seem to allow boat manufacturers to introduce next year’s models, while unloading old inventory. For BoatNameGear, these shows are to ramp up for the Christmas season.
Then, from January to March, the second and longer wave begins, with big shows in New York City, Boston and Miami, and dozens of smaller shows in between. There earlier shows seem to allow boat dealers to have something to do in an otherwise dormant sales period – if it weren’t for boat shows, it’s hard to imagine anyone buying a boat in Hartford in January. These shows also give boaters in colder areas a sense of hope that the next boating season is truly on the way.
To promote BoatNameGear, we are on the road throughout the Northeast during much of this time, doing as many nautical events as we can within a few ours of Hartford. And we are doing our two final shows of the season over the next two weekends in Hingham and Mystic:
South Shore In-Water Boat Show
When: Saturday – Sunday, April 26 – 27, 2014 (10 – 5 each day)
Where: Hingham Ship Yard Marinas, Hingham, MA
SailQuest Boat Show
When: Friday – Sunday, May 2 – 4, 2014
Where: Mystic Shipyard, Mystic, CT
Aside from one random show in late June, that is about it until September.
Over the past year, we’ve exhibited in Norwalk, Niantic, Milford, Philly, New Hampshire, Hartford, Providence, Annapolis, Worcester, Westbrook and probably a few other places that I can’t even remember right now! We’re adding a few larger shows to our schedule for next season, and, of course, we’re always on the lookout for high quality boat shows in the Northeast, so please let us know if there are any we should be at.
Hopefully we’ll see you at the next show!
